For the 2024 edition, CANIMAF is broadening its scope by placing a special emphasis on comic books, a vital narrative and visual art form that greatly contributes to the animation industry. Many animated works find their origins in comic books, and it is crucial to recognize and celebrate this art form in its own right.

The Importance of Comic Books for the Animation Industry

Comic books and animation share a symbiotic relationship. Comics often serve as inspiration for animated storylines and characters. Comic strips allow creators to test concepts, develop rich visual stories, and capture the essence of characters before they come to life on screen. By highlighting comic books, CANIMAF aims to encourage creators to explore this creative path and contribute to the evolution of African animation. To support this, we are launching a call for content for comic book creators for our Comic Book Exhibition space.

Call for Content for Comic Book Creators

To celebrate and promote African comic books, CANIMAF is issuing a call for content to all comic book creators. Selected works will be featured in a special exhibition during the next edition of the festival, offering a unique platform for creators to showcase their work.
