The Festival

To submit a film, you must:

	Carefully read and comply with the festival regulations available on FilmFreeway.
	Complete the online submission form on FilmFreeway under one of the available categories.
	If your film is selected, you will be asked to send your biography, filmography, and photo

The selection of films for the official categories of the Festival is determined by a selection committee. The decisions of this committee are final. The selection committee decides on the relevance of a film and may maintain, add, or remove a category.

Submissions are open to all animated films completed after January 1, 2022, regardless of format, origin, or technique.
A submission fee is required.

The 2024 edition of CANIMAF fully lived up to expectations, marking its grand return as a must-attend event for the promotion of African animation—particularly Cameroonian animation. Hosted in an inspiring academic setting, with the Libre Académie LABA in Douala as the venue, the festival brought together professionals, students, and enthusiasts around a curated selection of captivating films, enriching conferences, and immersive workshops. Supported by the Institut Français in Paris, Création Africa, and partners such as TV5 Monde Afrique, CANIMAF 2024 successfully showcased the creativity of local and African talents, reinforcing its essential role as a launchpad for the animation industry in Cameroon.

The 2025 edition will take place in a unique context. In the midst of a tense electoral climate, the festival will adopt a more minimalist approach—focusing on what matters most while embracing elegance and exclusivity. This will also be a special anniversary edition, symbolizing a major milestone for the African Animation Film Festival: five years of existence, commitment, resilience, and creativity in service of African animation. This anniversary will be an opportunity to celebrate the journey so far, while boldly reaffirming a forward-looking vision.

To mark the occasion, the festival will offer a festive and ambitious program featuring a retrospective of key moments from previous editions, tributes to pioneers of the industry, and a spotlight on a new generation of creators. Professional gatherings and knowledge-sharing workshops will structure this edition—designed as a crossroad between reflection and projection into the future.

The Festival of African Animation Cinema of Cameroon (CANIMAF): A Pillar of African AnimationSince its inception in 2017, the Festival of African Animation Cinema of Cameroon (CANIMAF) has established itself as a major cultural event and a catalyst for African animation. Conceived at a time when African animation was tentatively emerging on the global stage, CANIMAF was born out of the desire to fill a gap in the continent's cinematic landscape by providing a platform dedicated to promoting and celebrating African animated talent.

Creation Context: At the time of its creation, African animation faced numerous challenges, including a lack of visibility and institutional support. African animated artists often struggled to gain recognition for their work and access resources and development opportunities. In this context, CANIMAF was born from the desire to create an inclusive and dynamic space where African professionals and others could meet, exchange ideas, and collaborate, and where their works could be celebrated and showcased to a broader audience.

Objectives The African Animation Cinema (CANIMAF) is a festival dedicated to the animation genre in all its forms and variations. As the main cultural event in Cameroon that honors animated works, their directors, and producers, it has set several goals to achieve over time, including:

	Providing a platform for expression and distribution for African directors and producers in particular, but also for others worldwide.
	Offering an artistic and cultural proposition for the African and especially Cameroonian public.
	Discovering new talents.
	Stimulating the development of Cameroonian animation and the gradual establishment of an industry encompassing all links in the production chain.
	Creating a database of professionals, production studios, schools, and other training institutions.
	Highlighting creations from the "Jeun'anim" project, which focuses on producing animated films in schools.
	Establishing a creation support system: scholarships, grants, script readings, project competitions, connecting project leaders with funders.
	Signing partnerships with international festivals.
	Becoming one of the key hubs for animation cinema in Africa.

Le Festival de Cinéma d'Animation Africain du Cameroun (CANIMAF) change de main pour une nouvelle ère de créativité et de prestige. Depuis 2022, l'association "Tous'Anime", qui a porté le festival pendant des années, a décidé de le céder à l'entreprise STUDIO SOLF Sarl, un studio d'animation basé à Douala. Cette transition marque un tournant majeur dans l'histoire du festival, avec la promesse d'une croissance et d'une évolution significatives sous la direction de STUDIO SOLF Sarl.

STUDIO SOLF Sarl est reconnu pour sa créativité débordante dans la création digitale et la production multimédia. Cette expertise promet d'apporter une nouvelle orientation artistique et exclusive à chaque projet du festival. L'entreprise s'engage à maintenir la qualité et l'originalité qui ont fait la renommée du festival, tout en introduisant de nouvelles ressources et un prestige accru.

Moyens de mis en œuvreLes moyens mis en œuvre pour assurer le succès du festival sont nombreux. STUDIO SOLF Sarl dispose d'une équipe passionnée composée de techniciens de divers domaines pour la gestion, l'organisation et la programmation du festival. Des professionnels et studios d'animation locaux seront également sollicités pour partager leur expertise avec les festivaliers. De plus, grâce au soutien de l'Institut Français du Cameroun Douala, le festival bénéficie d'infrastructures et de matériel de qualité pour garantir son bon déroulement.
